Day 8- Krakow, Poland (Auschwitz-Birkenau)
Day 8- Krakow, Poland Wednesday 6/15/11 -We saw Oskar Schindler’s Factory. That was pretty cool. Then, we went to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps. That was an experience. When I got back, people kept asking me if it was upsetting to be there. But, quite honestly, it was more surreal than anything. It’s hard to imagine such a horrible thing actually happening, so...

Day 7- Krakow, Poland
Day 7- Krakow, Poland Tuesday 6/14/11 -We took a six hour bus ride from Warsaw to Krakow. On the way, we stopped somewhere along the countryside and had lunch. It was extremely hard to understand the menu and the employees just laughed at us so a couple of us ordered “frytkis” (french fries). We literally just ate a bowl of french fries. Which, I, of course, was totally fine with....

Day 6- Warsaw, Poland
Day 6- Warsaw, Poland Monday, 6/13/11 -Woke up with a bloody nose. That is, of course, my ideal way to start my mornings. As soon as I landed in Europe I had the worst allergies. But that wasn’t going to slow me down…helllll no. So, We started off by going to a Jewish Museum and watched a short film of the Jewish ghettos. It contained Nazi footage. Then we took a tour of the...

Day 5- Warsaw, Poland
Day 5- Warsaw, Poland Sunday 6/12/11: -Breakfast in Berlin then took a 10am train ride to Warsaw, Poland. (5 hours). At around 4pm I took a bus to the hotel in Warsaw. Then, we went into “Old Town” where there was musicians, street dancers, and SHOPS! I bought myself an awesome red scarf. We walked by a little cat that made a home for itself in a hole of a building. When...

Day 4 - Berlin, Germany
Day 4 Berlin, Germany Saturday 6/11/11: We visited the House of the Wannsee Conference, which is where high-ranking members of the Nazi party gathered to create the Final Solution. That was when they decided exactly how they were going to get rid of the Jewish population. It’s unfortunate because the property is beautiful. There’s even a huge lake right behind the house. The lake...

Day 3- Berlin, Germany
Day 3 Berlin, Germany Friday 6/10/11: -We started off with a visit to the Checkpoint Charlie museum and then visited the Typography of Terror. Typography of Terror is basically an outdoor museum about the secret Nazi Police. It was pretty cool, actually. But what was even cooler was seeing the Berlin Wall right behind it. Me standing in front of the Berlin wall. It says, “To...

My European Adventure...Finally! Day 1&2-Berlin,...
Day 1 BOS-Germany: -We flew overnight from Boston to Germany. And by we, I mean a group of students and two professors from Bridgewater State University. Overnight flight wasn’t the greatest. I only say that because I self-medicated myself and still didn’t sleep for a second. Which sucked because once we landed, it was the next day in Europe and the day must begin! Cool. Day 2...
